What are Nose Surgery Techniques?

Nose aesthetic surgeries are performed with two techniques, open and closed techniques.

Types of Nose Aesthetics
In rhinoplasty surgeries, preoperative planning is made by considering the patient's face shape, nose shape and patient's wishes. Nose aesthetic surgeries are performed with two techniques, open and closed techniques. There are 6 types of rhinoplasty techniques. These;

  • Primary Rhinoplasty: It is one of the most common nose surgeries. These are aesthetic surgeries in which the problems related to the shape of the nose are eliminated. In rhinoplasty operations, the nasal arch is removed, the nasal projection is shortened, the cartilages are reduced, making them suitable and proportional to the face.
  • Complicated Rhinoplasty: Interventions that will be performed with a second or third surgery that have undergone nose surgery before are considered complicated. The nose shape is redesigned and given a new look. Complicated rhinoplasty surgeries may take more time than the first (primary rhinoplasty) surgeries.
  • Tipplasty: It is the operation of correcting the tip of the nose by only interfering with the cartilages, without touching the nasal bridge.
  • Septorinoplasty: It is the surgery that removes the formations in the nose that cause breathing problems, together with rhinoplasty. The structure called septum is corrected and the arch and cartilage curvatures that prevent breathing are removed.
  • Concha Surgery: The meat in the nose is called turbinate. The turbinates enlarge and narrow the airway over time, both due to structural reasons and allergic reactions due to environmental factors. In turbinate surgery, these meats in the nose are reduced, thereby expanding the air channels.
  • Septoplasty: This is the type of surgery recommended for patients who are not worried about rhinoplasty but have breathing difficulties due to deviation problems in the nose. In septoplasty operations, no aesthetic operation is performed on the visible part of the nose. By intervening in the nose, it is aimed for the patient to breathe more easily and thus to increase the quality of life.

Things to Consider Before and After Nose Aesthetics
Contrary to popular belief, rhinoplasty operations are not very painful operations. The operation is performed under general anesthesia and the rhinoplasty surgery takes an average of 2 times. After the surgery, thin silicone pads are placed in the nose. A plastic plaster is placed on the nose. At the end of an average of 1 week, the tampons in the nose and the plaster on it are removed. After the plaster and tampon are removed, the nose area may come into contact with water. After the surgery, light-paced walks can be done. It is necessary to wait a month to start sports that require conditioning. After nose surgeries, it takes at least six months for the edema to decrease and the nose shape to settle. It is not recommended to use glasses for 3 months after surgery.
